You are buying an assembled Amiga Floppy Drive adapter.

This adapter allows most standard 3.5" PC floppy drives to be used with an Amiga computer — functioning as Double Density (DD) drives only.

This “Mini” version is specifically designed for direct connection to the Amiga’s internal floppy port. It comes pre-configured to support two floppy drives on smaller Amiga models with a single internal connector, such as the A500, A500+, and A1200. The A600 can also work, but due to limited internal space, you may need extension cables or careful routing. Compatibility with other Amiga models is possible but not guaranteed.

Default Configuration (out of the box):
•    The original Amiga floppy drive (if present) is connected as DF0
•    The attached PC floppy drive is connected as DF1

With this setup, normal AmigaDOS disks, regular Workbench operations, and most standard software will work fine - no additional drivers or software are required. However, some games and certain demos that use custom trackloaders may not function correctly with the PC drive.

The device ID for the PC drive port is pre-set to DF1, but you can reconfigure the ID using the onboard solder jumpers. DF0 should only be selected when no other internal drive is present. DF2 and DF3 may not work on the internal port of the smaller Amiga models, as the required signals are not present at the connector.

The adapter should be plugged onto the Amiga’s mainboard directly. Two 34-conductor flat ribbon cables have to be connected from the adapter to the drives. Use straight one-to-one cables, no twists required. Also, make sure to have proper power connection cables for the floppy drives. The adapter itself requires very little electrical current, therefore power is drawn directly from the floppy drive signal.

Additional configuration options for enhanced compatibility include a solder jumper to switch from the adapter’s internally generated motor signal to an external MTRX_ signal, which has to be connected via a soldered extra wire, and another solder jumper (marked J1) to bypass the adapter’s buffer circuitry. These are experimental options only and should not be required for standard operations.
